H2H and Hanwell Seventh-Day Adventist Church welcomed three local councillors Polly Knewhub (Cabinet member for Health Profiles & Equal Lives for Hanwell Broadway), Luise Brett (Deputy Cllr Hanwell North) and Dr Cheema Shahbaz (Greenford) as well as group of health professionals including Steph, Community Champion & Public Health Lead during a Community Freebies Day. Local residents were provided with information on how to maintain better health, services available to them through the local NHS Trust. The day also saw bouncy castle for local children, plenty of free gifts handed out in gifts bag. The day also included the week food distribution services to charity's regular guests and well as members of the community discovering more about what the charity and local church has to offer.
H2H working with the Hanwell SDA Church has welcomed members (Nipunika Silva and Ahmed Abdo) of Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust to speak the the church's congregation about Bowel and Breast Screening services. The talk provided much needed information to the local community, bringing awareness of the screening process including eligibility, invitation process as well as signs and symptoms of cancer. H2H Trustee and Project Director, Sarah Lubanga joined leaders of the local church on this day. The day was a reminder of the collaboration that happens to bring life changing information to local people where they are.
During this COVID-19 pandemic, H2H has seen the demand for its services rise significantly. Thanks to our generous partners, we has been able to continue our work during this difficult period. Working with a number of local organisations, H2H continued to deliver food supplies to those in need and on the margins.
The charity joined forces with a number of local churches to distribute supplies to people in need in their local communities. H2H has also worked with ADRA UK to provide supplies for their good bank and weekly distributions, work was also carried out with Area 6D to support families in need across across West London.
H2H work with our Partners to provide food to those in need and those on the margins of society. Through food donation, H2H ensures people are fed whilst also working to reduce food waste.
COVID-19 has affected everyone across the country, however, those on the margins will feel the effects of this pandemic the most. To support those who were unable to join the Hanwell Community Lunch Project, H2H has helped out by working with our sister organisation to provide grab bags with for those service users. The bags are packed with essential food items and are handed our on a weekly basis. Working together, we can ensure that the effects of this pandemic is reduced on those that are most susceptible to food poverty.
